I was recently told to read this book, and I just finished it. At first, I was kind of turned off because it's kind of young-adult-ish, but wow. Patrick Rothfuss is an excellent author, and the writing is at worst very entertaining and at best lyrical and poetic. Great book, and I look forward to reading everything else he has written.

Y'all should read this book if you are even the slightest bit into fantasy.

But . . . is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?

I'll have to check it out. Usually not into the out there stuff.

Hopefully that NSX is never caught in landslide...

I've got it started, haven't finished it. It *is* good, I just got distracted.I've got it and a Gene Wolfe book on my nightstand, which is similarly storyteller-ish, but in first person. Either is hard to go through when I do most of my reading, because I tend to read tired in the evenings and that style requires some brain function.

Good books! Make sure you read "A Wise Man's Fear" soon while "NotW" is still fresh in your mind. My entire family is hungrily looking forward to the third book of the trilogy, and that hunger was made that much more desperate with the companion book "The Slow Regard of Silent Things".

I actually got to attend a rare-ish book signing event of his a few months back. He's very entertaining in person, like Joss Whedon, but hairier and more bookish, the impression of which wasn't hurt by the fact that he was wearing a Serenity shirt.

He also has a sharp wit, calling me out for trying to take a video of the experience on behalf of my sister-in-law who introduced his works to me. It worked out though, as I got a large stack of his works autographed for myself and acquaintances, though it took a few hours of waiting in a looooong line, as we were limited to 3 items per round. I was also introduced to his "Princess and Mr. Whiffle" books at the event, which are like kids books for adults, in a good way.
